5 Star Burgers...Not Living Up To The Name

We decided to try a place I have been itching to try for a while now. Name looked VERY promising, as well as the menu I saw online. We walked into the place, maybe 20 people there. Trash on the floor and not the cleanest of places, but had heard good things about it. After a few minutes of waiting around a waitress finally seated us. We had high hopes as the place was plastered with "USA Today Says: "Best Burger In New Mexico" We opened the menu and were pretty impressed. My wife decided on the Bison Burger, and I went for the Taos: medium well with crispy, fried green chili (whole), cheese, bbq sauce, fresh lettuce, tomatoe, onion, accompanied with ketchup and green chili mayo. I chose the mixed cart of fries, half regular seasoned fries and half sweet potatoe. When our orderes arrived, my wifes looked great, mine however was the wrong burger, had to send it back and wait. Mean while, a soda got spilled, no sense of urgency to get it cleaned up, I did most of the mopping up myself. My burger finally arrived, it was tasty, but certainly not 5 star. For $32 for two burgers, 2 fries and cokes, I had expected a whole lot more. Restaurant was dark, staff seemed uncoordinated and lacked training. Not high on my list. Oh well, thats whats fun about this, hit and miss, some grand slams, some foul balls, as they say, the game must go on. Happy Labor Day All :)

NM Burger:Flying Star Cafe

We decided to try one of our favorite breakfast spots for lunch. I was anticipating a great lunch based on previous visits, and I was not disappointed. We walked in, looked over there large, overhead menu, and I immediately spotted my choice, the "NM Burger", their version of the Green Chili Cheeseburger. Fresh, made from scratch bun, thick, juicy patty, lettuce, tomatoe, onion and pickle accompanied by a generous portion of seasoned french fries. Food was served hot and very quickly. It was a good burger, nothing over the top, not too small not too large, just right for a good lunch. My only complaint was it was cooked there way, I was not given a choice, but it was done right. I can add lunch to one of our favorite breakfast spots.
Stop in at one of many locations and enjoy a great meal, no matter what you order.

Quarters Special

This is the studio favorite. Quarters bbq is close, its good and tasty, inexpensive and served promptly.  Juicy 1/4 lb patty cooked to order, fresh green chili, your choice of cheese, side of fries. Service is fast and efficient, food is fresh, and it makes for a great lunch meal. We go here regularly so I had to add it and give it props.

Cyclone Burger

Tried out a place my wife found. Cafe decor and food are a throwback to the 50's style diners. Drive up service, or inside. Red vinyl seating, red and white 4x4 tiles, lots of chrome, pictures and paintings of classic cars, even a juke box for your dining enjoyment. Great, plentiful menu, burgers, chicken dishes, freshmade shakes, breakfast burritos: there most famous is the "Disaster Burrito", you wont leave here hungry.
Today I am weathering the "Cyclone Burger",Hurricane's version of the green chili cheeseburger, there are several variations with or without green chili, there is even a double with bacon. Food arrived quite quickly, thumbs up, looks fresh, cooked just right, smells yummy. A little smaller than i expected based on the name, but thats not alwasy a bad thing.. Curly fries come come standard, although tater gems, cole slaw, cottage cheese or fruit cocktail are alternatives. Wife thought the fries could use a little more salt, I liked them just the way they were, the 2 year old looking over at us with a huge smile plastered across his face agreed.
Washed it down with a movie theatre large sized pink lemonade. A good ole fashioned burger at a reasonable price..under $20 for both of us, including tax.Service was great, prompt, attentaive, and courteous.  Next time your on Lomas, stop in for bite.

Burger in Paradise - Oniell's Pub

This is a studio favorite. This was my first time at O'neils, and I will DEFINITELY be back. This was not an overwhelmingly large burger, but a nice size for a lunch to fill you up. Here is how Anthony puts it:

"Ah....  Classic O'Niell Burger, This Awesome burger was 1st discovered by my good friend Tim March.  The restaurant we first tried the burger was on Central Ave @ Nob Hill.  They recently opened a new location on Juan Tabo AVE near comanche.
This burger is full of flavor and what makes the burger in my opinion is the combination or Hatch Green Chili and Bacon.  Spiced well on top of a Kaiser Roll.  Got to try this one!"

That pretty much sums it up...Oneils has several locations..we visited their newest location.

Harry's Roadhouse...Buffalo Burger

Harrys Roadhouse I have heard many people say great things about. When it was featured on "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" my wife wanted to try it. So we headed up there one day. Rather small but quaint restaurant, eclectic decor. The burger was made from buffalo meat, very juicy, slightly richer texture than beef. VERY Satisfying. Other great items on the menu, and desserts..YUM!

Big Jack Daddy

This is a great "Fill Me Up" burger at Buffalo Wild Wings. The added onion rings with Jack Daniels BBQ sauce is what sets this part. I first had this at BWW at Cottonwood mall, but with so many locations popping up on a regular basis, and new burgers being added, you can get this almost anywhere..ENJOY!!
